Our government has grown way beyond the confines of the Constitution and Amendments. The Health Care bill passed 3-21-10 is unconstitutional, fiscally irresponsible, and freedom killing. We need to be working on a return to the "self evident" truths of the Declaration of Independence and fully apply the lessons of history. Government is a fearful master and must be bound by the chains of the Constitution.
I LOVE the order which government bureaucracy brings to life by steady dedication to the rules of this country and making our lives more predictable. I HATE the way politics divides American from American and pits the interests of the rural against those of the urban.
Government is a master less fearful than greed. When all things are reduced to profit margins and the capital of the few has power over the many, humanity is lost. Government is the institution which can curtail the excesses, boom-bust cycles, and inequities of the market. The lessons of the 1800's were that industrialization empowers companies and that their empowerment is to the decimation of the common man unless government defends the people.
The Congressional Budget Office is a non-partisan institution the reputation of which has gone unsullied throughout its history. Only now with health-care are its numbers, which project a long runs SAVINGS, being challenged.
That it is an inherently flawed, inefficient, wasteful institution. The more of it there is, the worse. Its job should be to protect the rights of its people and enforce laws that protect said rights, essentially to ensure equal opportunities(NOT OUTCOMES).
Are you a man or a slave? Do you own your body? If no, then by all means should we defend the nation-state and those who control the apparatus of state power. It is good that an apparatchik should make "our lives more predictable," as the self-declared chattel posted above. If you believe you have no right to your labor and your body, then you will agree that the state "can curtail the excesses, boom-bust cycles, and inequities of the market." Yet it was the state that instituted a central bank that has allowed exponential money creation and the 97% decline the value of the dollar since the 1913 - the birth of the Fed. It is our government that made it illegal for Americans to own gold bullion in 1933. Back then, a man was on par the state - gold was gold. Now all that matters is who controls the printing press. I mock you anonymous... That you should claim that the largest boom-bust cycles, the ones that have occurred in this century thanks to stat intervention in the most basic economic force (money itself), are what government prevents! I'm sorry, but you are a fool. The government is a monopoly on brutal violence, so if man is greedy, why allow such a monopoly to exist? Why allow one man the power of life and death over another? Why can your wealth and labor be confiscated by fiat? By laws written by greedy men?
BTW, did anyone notice how the insurance companies rallied after the bill passed? Isn't this great? We're fixing the problem by making it illegal to be uninsured! I hope you people wise up when this monstrous state comes crashing down just like the Marxist hell-hole my family escaped!
I love that even though we have problems with political beliefs, our government still stands no matter who is in charge...which makes our country great.
I hate that political beliefs shape the way we think. I am a liberal and I can honestly say that sometimes I think less of people when I find out they are conservative. It is horrible that I do it, and I hate that I do it. I hate that a lot of people from both sides do it, maybe the majority.

Backstabbing, partisan, mudslinging politics that gets no results for the people. Case in point: current health care debate.
ReplyDeleteHealth care was passed. That was good. The gridlock isn't too crippling I at least.

I hate that their is so much corruption in high level politics.

ReplyDeleteI love when government gives us freedom to live our lives. "That government is best which governs least."

I hate that there is so much partisanship. It prioritizes beating down the "enemy" (the other party) over the good of the nation.
ReplyDeleteI hate how everyone must have an opinion on everything, especially when they have no idea what they are talking about.
